PaintNite! What a blast!

We had such a  fun evening at PaintNite!

Speaking for myself I absolutely loved it. I love painting. I am always painting something around the house and I am always looking for something to paint or stain and/or in the yard since the warm weather is here. I haven’t painting anything artsy in a long time. Too long of a time. I am going to get out my paints and get back at it again.

PaintNite was an evening out and at a local pub Cornerstone Pub and Grill in Wetaskiwin on the automile. The place was full of eager artists, and many familiar faces, and it was nice to see them and have a chat. Yes, drinks are served so we had a designated driver all lined up, my husband.

We picked the date for our PaintNite by which picture we wanted to paint and it was a conclusion by Alison and I for the night by a very easy vote for the picture we painted called Tree Of Tranquility. Here is the original painting that our pieces of art were based on:

Here is Alison happy and eager to get to painting her art. Aprons are on each of us as supplied by PaintNite.

And there’s Debbie, all ready to go!

It was easy to paint this with the instructions of the paint instructor. Step by step guidance was given throughout and question were answered by the helpful staff.

We only had three colors to work with black, white and blue. We then then blended and mixed when needed to get all the different shades and effects in our paintings.  We were also given four different paint brushes and used each for different painting methods.

If I struggled with getting anything how I wanted it , it would have been the pond beneath the tree. After a few tries I was happy with it though.

The part I really enjoyed the most was putting the blossoms on the tree. I also really liked making the tree itself and it’s branches. Everyone’s tree was different.

This is a photo of my (Debbie’s) finished painting.

This is a picture of Alison’s finished painting!

Our two finished paintings are quite different from each others. This rang out loud and clear as when the evening was done I walked around and looked at different people’s paintings and it was very interesting as every painting was unique. They were all distinct with each artist’s personal touch. Some had smaller trees, some larger trees, some had more blossoms on the tree than others, and so on.

I would highly recommend PaintNite for anyone looking to get creative and have an evening out. Check out their Facebook page and website for dates of a PaintNite near you. I know I hope to get out again soon to another PaintNite!

Great to see that you tried something different and it really worked out for you. There is so much to see and do if you look for it. Can’t wait to see what you create next time.

Thank you! We both really enjoyed ourselves, and are interested to try a coffeehouse one next time to see the difference in the paintings! 😉

I have heard about these classes and I think I will book one for September when the kids are back in school

It was so much fun! If you are kid free, I HIGHLY recommend doing one in a bar rather than a coffee shop. As a young mom, it was really fun to have a “girls night out” and it definitely took the edge off for me, because I was very nervous about painting for the first time. I think next time, we will try a coffeeshop one and then see the difference in the paintings! LOL 😉

You did an awesome job!! they have a paint class once a month here in my town, but I haven’t gone yet, they do look like a lot of fun, but where they have ours it’s at a cheese store and there is no drinking, just stinky
